I am an HCG newbie and a newbie here.  After seeing the results that some friends had on the HCG protocol, I decided to take the plunge.  Today is my 2nd day of the 500-calorie diet and from yesterday morning to this morning I lost 5 lbs! wow! I'm very motivated now!  Grin   I have a question about a dressing and a sauce.

After having a dry chicken/romaine/tomato salad yesterday I realized I may not be able to do that.  I did some research and found this Maple Grove Farms Fat Free Balsamic Vinaigrette, which has (per 2 Tbsp) 5 calories, 0 Fat, 160mg Sodium, 1g Carb, 0 Protein.  The ingredients are: Water, balsamic vinegar, cider vinegar, seasoning blend (dehydrated onion and garlic, red and green bell peppes, guar and xanthan gums, natural lemon flavor), salt, cane syrup, Xanthan Gum.  It looks like it would be safe to use, but wondering if anyone would recommend not using this, even if I used 1 Tbsp on a chicken/green salad?

Sauce question: I think i'm going to need to spice things up a bit.  I have a big bottle of Original Red Hot cayenne pepper sauce.  It has 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 protein and 200 mg Sodium per 1 tsp.  The ingredients are simply aged cayenne red peppers, vinegar, water, salt and garlic powder.  Anyone see anything wrong with throwing this on some chicken here and there for flavor and spice?   Today for lunch I sauteed some previously-grilled chicken, added juice of half a lemon, a couple tsp of the Red Hot sauce and added some chopped asparagus and some baby spinach.  It was really good!

lightchild - it is best not to use balsamic vinegar based items bec/ of extra carb ... try apple cider vinegar ... or Walden's Farms sugar free, fat free and calorie free. For what it is, most of the items are very tasty ... not all, just depends on your taste. I do best with the asian and the italian. If you cannot find it locally, you can order online. good luck

I made the most awesome dressing!  Get a blender. I have one of those bullet little blenders and it's awesome (at Walmart).  Here's what you do:
chop up, cucumbers, tomato's, a few green onion's and a bit of celery.  Then,
add, fresh is best Cilantro, plain Red Wine Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar and the a few drops of Stevita (like Stevia).   Oh, some basil too....You can put a tad bit of water.  It is fabulous!
Oh add a bit of hot pepper to kick it up...
I put it on top of a spinach salad or reg salad. It's kinda thick, but that is what makes it different!  YUMMY!

Try and stick to the protocol as strict as possible and eat organic. This will feed and  nourish you the most for the 500 calories you are eating. Be as strict as you can and don't try to vary anything. You will maximize your loss. I am on second round of drops and fat is falling off of me. Keep up the good work and remember, you can do this for 30, 40 days at a time....the sauces and salad dressings are not leaving the planet...you will be able to have them again soon!  Smiley

My Physician specifically told me about Walden Farms, and let me try some for a taste test. All I can say is I think that may be my saving grace! Smiley

There are a bunch of recipes out on the web but I did find a good e-book that has a bunch of sauce and seasoning recipes. I think the address was bestofHCGrecipes.net if you are interested. Also if you can find a health food store that carries Walden line of dressings those are good to use as well
